If your only going 3miles on mostly 30mph limit, wouldn't a little derestricted 50 do the job?
Then get a 250+ machine for pleasure rides/shopping etc?

Re: finally made a decision
Yeah look at the bigger picture, u got work covered...what about play ? a 125 will get to 45 pretty quick, but then slow down till it hits 60ish, a 250 will shoot up to 60, then start to slow down, which would be good for weekend rides out , a 650 shoots to 90 then starts to slow down
If ur lookin at Honda what about the SH300i ?? must be about similar price to the PCX ?

Re: finally made a decision
Andy, I would recomend a test ride on a s-wing 125, as well as a test ride on a pcx, the s-wing is a lot more expensive but lots of nearly new ones about for the same price as a new pcx, I personaly think the s-wing is a brilliant scoot and hard to believe its a 125.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Look at these Yamaha YP125R XMax. Initially very expensive but I have found these brand new unused 13 pre reg for only £2999 in Tamworth.

They also had an unused 13 pre reg TMax 530 in white at £6999. It did not last long.....
