finally made a decision

Post by andyscooter »

:D :D

at first i wanted a 125cc scoot to commute on

started looking at 125cc and for not a lot more started noticeing some 200cc once for about the same

then i got told i would have a bit more money so started looking at bigger scoots again found a nexus on here

but then

settled for a silverwing that i found on bike trader as the nexus i found was sold

kept umming and arring as it was 10 years old and was 2790 quid and then 100 quid delivery and then i would need a shorter screen so add another ton

then noticed the bloke had a rather intresting mix of feedback on ebay and someone had said he has a habit of making pictures look better then the bike is and hides scratches and such

so i was buying a scoot that i had never seen let alone ridden from a bloke who could be discribed as dodgy

then i thought with my head not my heart

my commute is 3miles each way its a 30 limit except for a 200 yard nsl

do i really need a 100mph scooter for that and be paying 20 odd quid a week for fuel

when i was looking at 125cc scootas i liked the honda pcx but couldnt originally afford one

then realising i could instead of the big silverwing
i will be ordering a brand new honda on saturday only question now is

what colour do i have

You really only need a 125, so good that you came to that conclusion. My Swing (white, lovely), costs less than half the money it costs to run a 600/650 scooter, and with the money saved, I brought an NC700 X (white, lovely).

I've been thinking of a PCX also, I quite like the new Pearl Siena Red, second choice would be white.
If you get white or black make sure you get the latest esp model as some dealers still have old stock of non esp models and are not discounting them and they are relying on people not knowing the difference. The esp logo is on the air box and better off having the latest as will be a factor on resale.
I'm also looking at the new Piaggio Fly 125 3V with very impressive 144mpg and long 10,000 km service intervals and only £2220, currently also with 2 years 0%.

OK...but a new PCX is a pretty expensive thing for a commute. For that sort of short commute, anything reliable will do, and you can save your pennies and put them towards something else. Snag with a 125 is that whilst its great (or even over spec) for the commute, thats all it does. For the price of a PCX, you might be able to get a cheap 125 plus half way to a decent secondhand 'wing or TMax or Burger 400.

Alternatively, for that commute, you could think about an electric scoot....pricy to buy, but running costs would be very cheap.
