Just seen this, including vid, of the super duper brand new 2025 Tmax, although I can't see that its notably different from the current version, except for the display.

All very nice, though what I'd really want is a centrestand that doesn't rust within 6 months...........

Re: 'New' version Tmax
Interesting info. There's no doubt it's a premium scooter but not quite my cup of tea really. The cost is crazy in my view but then if someone really wants one, that's not going to matter too much for many.
The centre stand rust issue is just so universal though Grumpy. My Vespa stand lasted near 7 years but only because I used to smother it in Waxoyl regularly. But even so it was needing to be taken off & blasting clean & repainting last year before I sold it. This time round with the new RE Meteor I've sprayed it & the whole bike with ACF50. Nine months on the stand is unmarked but ACF certainly won't stop stone chips.
You thinking of changing to the new bike Grumpy?

Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: 'New' version Tmax
I'll have to change scoots before long - I've had the mk6 Tmax for over 7.5 years now! And I've had the mk3 for 4 at least! I'm in the process of moving house (very slow process) to Cumbria so I'm not doing anything until all that is sorted. Have to see what dealers are within reach over there. Can't see myself getting another new Tmax - for one thing I don't think the versions after my mk6 are a significant enough upgrade to bother with - but on the other hand there is a Yamaha dealer in Barrow which is 'only' 35 or so miles away from the new house, which is closer than the 60 or 70 to a Yamaha dealer than I am now! Maybe the Sym or Kymco Tmax 'clones' might be worth considering, though I'm not confident of the importer's ability to supply spares etc. One thing you can say for Yamaha is that you can still get spares for any Tmax! And of course, after market parts are now widely available.
Not entirely what I would get - in many ways my Tmaxs are over the top for my needs - though they do do any job superbly well. I do toy with the idea of one of the 350 Adventure style scoots like Honda ADV350, but I am slightly wary of scoots with the trad 'engine on the swing arm' engineered scoots as I've found them pretty hopeless in the past on crappy rural roads - though maybe the adventure style scoots with better suspension may be OK. I ought to consider the Honda X-ADV or Forza 750 but I'm just not that keen on that engine and wasn't convinced by the DCT. I do even toy with something more bike-like now that Quckshifters and even auto trans are becoming more common, though very few bikes look to be any good for winter riding, without getting dressed up as if for a Polar expedition! So...watch this space, in a bit!

Re: 'New' version Tmax
I went from the Honda 350ADV to a new Tmax. The Honda was adequate, but I did find that I wanted about another 5bhp as it will cruise at a GPS 70mph, but with little in reserve for hills / headwinds. Fuel consumption wasn't exceptional, probably because I live in a mountainous area where it's easy to stay above 50mph. Is the Tmax twice as good as the ADV350 etc, no way, but I have the spare cash, I'm not getting any younger and really do like its extra bhp and the cruise control. I looked at the Tmax clones, and yes they're a few thousand pounds cheaper, but they felt like it, in for example the switch quality, and so I felt that if I got one, each time I used it, I'd think "if only I'd spent another 15% I could have the bike I wanted, not the cheapest one". YMMV.

Yes, I know the dilemma. Hopefully things will become clearer after your move. Good luck with everything Grumpy.MrGrumpy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 7:38 pmI'll have to change scoots before long - I've had the mk6 Tmax for over 7.5 years now! And I've had the mk3 for 4 at least! As for the new Tmax, the display looks cool, but I also can’t spot anything super groundbreaking compared to the current model.

Re: 'New' version Tmax
I think the biggest difference is that the 2025 version has cornering ABS, and also the Garmin sat nav is free to use.
Personally I'd be hoping that I won't need to rely on an upgraded ABS saving me from embarrassing myself. Saying that, anything that helps keep us safe can't be all bad, just not enough of a pull for me to swap.
And, I have my own Garmin XT2 which having the option to take off the bike to plan routes etc is good for me.

Re: 'New' version Tmax
Yes, AFAIK there have been no fundamental changes since the mk6 - same chassis, engine was modded slightly to go to 560cc and meet new Emissions regs. As Yamaha always, do, they fiddle with the suspension set up each time, and minor restyles (and not necessarily for the better - the step-thru seems to have almost vanished!). The big change has been the electronic display - OK call me an old fogie, but I'm not really that excited by electronic displays - old analogue instruments work pretty well, and I haven't got time or the attention span to stare at complex displays! I guess SatNav might be nice, but I'm used to finding my internal systems - paper maps and a brain, which works well, most of the time! So for me, upgrading from a mk6 to a mk7 or mk8 (are we up to 9 yet? I've lost track), doesn't really seem worth it.

Re: 'New' version Tmax
Popped into the Dealers for a Oil Filter for the MK6 and they had a nice Black one with 2k off the retail price,
i have little interest as the test bike i rode was vibey and the suspension was far to hard

Re: 'New' version Tmax
My bike's engine seemed rough for the first couple of hundred miles, certainly compared to the 350ADV I had before it. Still not silky smooth, but ok for me. I'm not a lightweight, which might help the way I feel about the suspension.
