nice loking trike

I've posted this for a couple of reasons first the trike itself. I like the design and the fact that it has reverse, think it would benefit from a screen both in looks and use. I've heard of Jinling before but don't know if they are any good.
The other reason is what the poster says about his fathers problems getting insured for it. I was wondering if anybody on here had had problems or knew of anybody who has.

Hi Knight, yeah it looks ok. Only problem will be getting parts I should think. I've heard of them but know little about them. I would imagine it's heavy too so performance probably limited. Personally if I was in the market for a lower powered trike I'd steer clear unless you find out it's a gem with good parts backup.

I wasn't thinking of buying it just thought it was a nice looking thing. He does say in the advert it's not very quick. It was the insurance problems he talks about I'd not heard of before and was wondering if anybody had similar probs with a relative, another six years and I'll be there and time passes quick.

My F-I-L just hit 80 and had his car insurance treble. Age wasn't the only factor though, he got caught speeding and was too embarrassed to do the course so took the points, plus insurance costs are going crazy due to the numbers of uninsured and unlicensed road users.

There are many many reasons the sewer-ants won't touch this POS though.

It's a grey import so they have no data.
SVA is honestly a joke, so they look at all the Q-plate home made sports cars that crash because they brake like a Ford Angular and raise the premium accordingly.
It's a forward trike, so generally has poor handling and a dislike of going round corners.
Many other trikes are lash-ups of half a VW nailed to Harley forks, so plenty of data where bits fall off and hit third parties.
If you crash it it will be a write-off because the claims handling companies will quote to reflect their unwillingness to chase the Chinese to work out what the company is called this week.
It's weird, so plenty of attention and that includes drivers who can't stare and drive at the same time and thieves.

It'll get better because having had sidecars I will bet the lowest quotes will contain errors. When the call centre staff can't find Foo-Yung Expo or whatever it's called, they select Ford Escort and get their commission. You get to call back after not having real insurance for a week.

IMHO, If you want something more stable try a Piaggio MP3 or Can-Am. Neither cheap to insure but are actually supported.

Andy sorry to hear of your father in laws probs. My aunt-I-L got done for speeding when she was in her eighties she thought they had got the speed limt wrong, they didn't. She has since given up driving.
If I was to get a trike, which I might some time in the future, it would probably be a Peugeot Metropolis. would steer clear of a Can-Am to expensive and unreliable.
