Italjet Dragster 700!

Post by MrGrumpy »

It seems that Italjet's concept maxi-scoot is coming to fruiition, now with 68bhp! Comes complete with manual gearbox and chain drive. I seem to remember it being utterly hideous when it was unveiled. No doubt it will float someone's boat though. Apparently might be cheaper than a Tmax when it enters regular production!

It looks like a scooter that Mr Chips would be happy taking down the drag strip.

Finally living up to its name, I guess.

Is it me or does that just look like a motorbike with leg shields, modern version of a Velocette LE, with a lot more clout. Now if they made it look more like a tmax/burgman with electronic gear change, proper gear box and enclosed belt drive and some storage space. It seems to be a scooter with non of the advantages of a scooter

Yeah...exactly. One wonders who'd buy it? I guess it's just meant to be a fun bike/scoot for people with lots of money to ride on Sunday afternoons....

Well only 700 will be built so I guess it is just for enthusiasts with money to waste (- is money spent on fun wasted?).

I presume that only 700 of the special first version will be built, but presumably any number of standard ones will be available. The cynic in me wonders if the special version will outsell the standard one.....

Not quite the same but I remember Kawasaki UK only imported J300 standard models and hardly sold any: most people wanted the SE with ABS. Took 'em a while, but they worked it out in the end. (Although Kawasaki spent nothing on updating the bike after 2014... grrr).
