Sounds good. The Kyle of Lochalsh general area is the best bit of Scotland IMHO. I don't find the North Coast isn't so interesting, and now is full of people doing the NC500 as well!

I've done the whole route couple of times so just picked bits liked the best .Plus Ullapool and Kyle of Lochalsh have all you need in terms of civilization.Told wife going on my own she said not going in the van then .I thought about it and if she wants to come could take scoot in the van .After that watching day time tv about moving to the country
Lynmouth and Lynton was on .Last year went there from Ilfracombe couldn't get a parking space any where. So maybe the future of Staycationing is take scoot in back of the van days out on the scooter .

I sometimes dip into a forum about caravanning/motorhomes and the NC500 often comes up as the topic of discussion. I've never actually ventured that far north, and although some of the roads look to be fun on two-wheels, I'm not sure the scenery in the region would especially appeal to me. With the area also having the nuclear waste processing site and some of the most radioactive beaches in the world, I would certainly be avoiding any wind-blown sand!
According to the forum, at certain times of the year the area does seem to be full of caravanners, motor-homers etc parking wherever they feel, including the designated passing spaces on narrow roads, emptying their waste products and filling rubbish bins with their assorted refuse as they go along. It has been made worse of late by all accounts, due to Covid forcing people to holiday in the U.K. It seems that some locals in the north of Scotland are quite sick of the NC500 craze, with small retail businesses particularly annoyed, as these visitors have already filled their diesel tanks and larders at supermarkets on the way up!
I guess, this is probably the case now in many popular parts of this country, particularly so with the exodus of people to the coast/country/theme park every bank holiday weekend.

You forgot to mention the midges and changeable weather .

I've changed accommodation at Kyle of Lochash to actually on Skye it's self found a mobile home in someone's garden on Airbnb near beach with a sea view 😍 so put a deposit on that .

Go up the east coast. Arbroath and that area is beautiful and not as busy. Scotland is a truly lovely country with loads of places to discover. The secret is to find the bits most people don’t visit. Central and East are great places to explore especially if you like a bit of the amber nectar. Distilleries around these parts offer lovely smooth malts. Park your bike up for a couple of nights somewhere like Perth or in the Speyside area and get a coach trip for a few wee drams. We went up to Scotland (Arbroath and Carnoustie) to Visit wife’s relatives in September. Hardly any midges on the East coast but views and scenery are stunning.

On my list to have Arbroath smokies after watching one man and his campervan go there and smoke some in a barrel. 😆

Came across a father and son on forza 125s on Applecoss pass single track .I've been pondering a forza 125 long term would see me out combined with having a campervan and pottering around.I was impressed with hill starts out of passing places and 60 mph is enough to tour Scotland. My birthday is June May treat my self get new on pcp could give it back when 70 or pay balance 😆

Does appear busy but on single track is a bit stop start at best of times and the pass is very popular. Out North of Ullapool it varies 2 Lane and single track not sure about Skye only done bits with 2 Lane.

Thanks for uploading that, Sagalout. An enjoyable watch and what appeared to be perfect weather for a gentle, leisurely ride.
