Post by Deleted User 7142 »

Was just wandering if anyone has ridden the new BMW400X or GT and what they thought of it in comparison to the yamaha XMAX etc,?

I like the look of them. There is surprisingly a few around second hand already. The Loncin engine wouldnt put me off, nice scoots.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

If I remember correctly (though it seems my memory is prone to gaps!), its entirely built by Loncin rather than just the engine.

iv'e sat on the GT an really felt comfortable. the optional TFT screen with more settings than the star ship enterprise. personally a waste of time for me as i just get on an ride . even with my nc750s i don't bother with S1/2/3 ,i just put in D' mode an ride it . i was told about one chap who bought a GSA 1200 bmw adventure bike but it got through rear brake pads really quickly. an got very hot . only to be told oh it's because you have it in rally mode ,which gives rear brake bias. for off road only .. too much tech.. brakes are important so when something electronic takes over how they work. nope , yes ABS is good , i'll give them that. .
Good friends don't let you do stupids thing alone .

Phantom it’s one thing saying you don’t bother about this and that however in this day of technical and digital compatibility I’d be wanting everything that’s on offer - it’s a rapidly changing world and in my opinion the greater the tech the greater the bike

I'd check out the stalling problems that most everyone is experiencing with the 400 on the BMW Forum. They tried CPU updates, then changed intake manifolds, and now they think it's defective clutch DESIGN...like on the C650's for YEARS.

From the Forum:

"I've been told that BMW is developing a new clutch for the C400. So it means that there is no suitable solution available for the time being."

I had a look at one on the BMW stand at the NEC. Surprisingly small space under the seat. Even worse the lack of the 650 and the electric scoot on show, a dozen variants of the 1250GS but only two 400s hid in the corner. Shows their commitment to scooters. Dogsbody

Heres this years goings on by week.

Some sound pretty serious !!!

Why on earth would BMW make the 400 scooter in China and not Taiwan ?

I would of thought with the price they could manage somewhere in the EU !!! even.

Thanks for that info,i think i'll steer clear for now.
Looks like its not even quicker than the X-Max 300 either.
I do think its a good looking scoot though and also like the idea of the heated seat, which i wish the X-Max had as an option.
