600 mile service

Post by rayb »

I just saw some horror stories about how much some people have been charged. So I just checked with my dealer and it's £81 including VAT. This seems pretty reasonable to me, with labour costs what they are. I'm also having the wheels changed under warranty, so they said they'd need it for three hours. I can see it taking them an hour to remove both wheels, swap the tyres over and put the wheels back.

Mine was £100 all in, although the dealer I bought the bike from wanted £150! Fortunately there was a cheaper alternative closer to home.

£49 and £9 of that was value lost tax,
they asked if I bought it from them
so I suppose that is a discounted price for
customers.

Check to see if the rear gear oil is changed... often it isn't - which I find disappointing for such a small amount of oil... well worth changing it if it wasn't - just to get all the new swarf, fillings etc shite out the gears...
Mainly engine oil is used nowerdays... although I use Halfords Motorcycle and Scooter Gear Oil, 10w40...

Thanks. I'll ask the question.

I really doubt that they will change the gear oil at 600 miles - awkward task to do - I use this

Hi, from my experience they won't change the gear oil or the oil filter at the 600 mile service? Engine oil change and wipe over if you're lucky

It looks like it might be a bit easier with the rear wheel out, so perhaps I can persuade them.

Depends on the scoot, on the X-max 300 and I think other Yams it's
a 2 min job you can get to the drain and filler without removing stuff,
the Bergman on the other hand needs other stuff taking off, it is a
service item on the X-max though.

It doesn't look too difficult on an SH300
