Burger 400 / Xmax 400 Comparsion

Post by MrGrumpy »

A comparison test of the Xmax and Burger,
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/fir ... x-max-400/

.... though its from MCN, so don't expect anything too revealing....they had an article about their X-ADV the other day which basically said that they'd filtered through traffic on it, and wasn't that amazing!!!

It was an ok review but it reinforced my own view about the 400. 53mpg !!! Even if they're ragging it, that's appalling.

can't be right...
On a stop start commute i get 65 mpg... Out for fun is more like 80...
I don't think the engine has changed... Mainly the plastics and a few electrics...

M/C sport & leisure are running a Honda NC750 DCT and averaging about 91mpg.

Agreed. A Blue Core 400 would be an excellent move for Yamaha and surely they must be working on it.

They certainly know how to rag it,
I rode a W800 that had just been used in a MCM test
the hero blobs that are quite long on the W were long gone
and the bottoms of the foot rest were missing a lot of ally.

Does seem a bit excessive - even I'm getting more out of the mk6 Tmax, and I'm notorious for getting bad mpg figures! I used to get something like 65-70 for the Bev 350 for comparison, and I didn't hang around on that!!! There again, the mk1 Tmax is drinking fuel like an alcoholic at closing time......
