Yamaha xmax 400R

Post by Neil Rob »

Hello all,my name is Neil,I took delivery yesterday of my 66 plate xmax 400 in brilliant white,I didn't realise the size of it,just got to run it in now,I'm chuffed to bits up to now,I don't want to burst my bubble, but has anyone had any problems,I wondered if anyone knows where the auxilary cable to power a phone, sat nav etc is?,someone said it is pre wired but the manual doesn't list where it is,many thanks.

how do...
had a 400 since sept '13...
check out my posts, I have made a few observations...
one thing to check - take the seat tub out and check the coolant hose jubilee clip at the thermostat - mine popped off..
I think the loom has a pre wired connector up near the headstock, capped off white plug I think- joins a connector on a separate usb wire you can buy.
Any specific Q's just shout

Hose came off on the way home from work... Had the RAC out and back to the dealer as I was only a few months old and wanted to make sure...
There had been a couple of other cases on the web... just needs the hose clips checking tightening - should of been done at the 600 mile check over, might well of been? - worth a look that's all,
Engine is real easy to get at with the seat tub out... a dose of AFC 50 or scotoiler 365...
Other thing worth keeping an eye on is where engine pivot bolt goes through the bushes / top hats in the engine casing... mine developed a squeak - get some penetrating oil in there...
check you tube for a 3 part headlight bulb renewal, had 2 go in 3 years of ownership - an arse to get to with banana fingers - but the vid shows you how and where all the fiddly clips are - cant understand a word but doesn't matter...
keep an eye on the air filters, especially the variator / crank one - they get filthy when commuting - check out my post on the cheaper Hiflo when you are out of warranty etc...
Got a little sports screen from powerbronze now I'm using the SH125 for commuting and the XMax is on weekend duties, looks luverly ;)

Sorry to hear that Paul,I'm no mechanic but I sort of understand,I had a couple of scuffs on the huge exhaust 2 piece covers when delivered, the chap pointed it out, they said they would order them in and send them to me,the dealer is 23 miles away,I touch wood they I don't have the Miriam's of problems you've had paul.
