New bike advice

Post by share »

Ok I have sauced the funds to by a new bike by the end of November!

I have £2600 to spend and I'm looking for a new maxi scooter 125cc to replace my Piaggio xevo 125 that died.

I DONT want another piaggio so I'm looking for a bike that is cheaper to service etc.

I have been advised on maybe the honda pcx 125?

What 125cc maxi scooter would you recommend????

Id go for any of the honda sh, pcx, fes. All good scoots depending on which one you fancy. Fes s-wing has more weather protection for commuting.Pcx more sporty looking, sh big wheels for uneaven roads.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

If you want a brand new maxi you'll need a lot more than two grand.
Honda 125s all have 2500 mile service intervals so if you buy a new one and do a high mileage and want to keep the warranty, expect big servicing bills.

There is a few 125 Maxi's that can be had for £2600.

SYM Joyride Evo or HD2(Big wheeled) are around that price, depending on dealer.
KSR Moto Zion 125 is £1999
Peugeot Citystar - A new air cooled model is available for £2599.

Depends on local dealer support though for these in your area.

I know you said 'New', , but as ever brand new things are often bad value, as their value plummets the moment you leave the shop!

What about a nearly new Honda S-wing? Deeply loved by many people on here and are a pretty quality bit of kit.

It also depends on your use - if you want to go on main roads, then you want something with a decent amount of grunt, that many of the Chinese ones don't have. If you are going to do lots of miles, one of the bigger brands may be a good idea as reliability will be important.

As mentioned by others, if you have a decent reliable dealer near you, then buying from them may be a good idea rather than something apparently more attractive & cheaper from some bunch of cowboys 20 miles away!

So not Austrian then? Generic are Chinese. I would still advise the OP to get another engine for the bike he has that would be the cheapest option. I can't tell you why your engine blew up but I can say that the 125cc leader engine is usually bomb proof the one in my old X8 (same as X-evo) had 49000kms on it & was still going strong before I fitted the 250 qasar engine. I have owned & worked on several high milers previous to that as well. Like anything the servicing needs to be kept up it doesn't matter what you ride even Hondas.
