A right muppet

Post by StephenC »

I feel a need to share this. It's embarrassing but sometimes you just have to let things out, you know?

Not having ridden the Kymasaki for a week I commuted in today for the normal 27 mile, 1 hour journey and parked up in the office's underground lair. Switched off, opened seat, put helmet, gloves and keys in and shut seat. What!!!

Oh feck, for the first time EVER I have locked the keys under the seat.

I checked with the carpark guy and he's ok with the bike staying there until I am next in the office on Tuesday. He did say that if it was a car, then action would have had to be taken  (gvnt office in Westminster).

So now I am looking through the Citymapper app for the best way home. It seems like it will probably cost about £8 and take 2 hours. That's double the time and equal to 6 litres of petrol (normal would be 1.6 litres).

Bugger.

So to help me save some embarrassment, does anyone else care to confess some thoughtless, stupid act?

When i had an S-Wing, I was taking the lock off when a bloke came over and started asking lots of questions. I got completely distracted from my normal routine.

When he left I chucked my lock under the seat and shut it.

Unfortunately my keys were still in the lock.

Had to borrow a length of bar and some fencing wire off a couple of workman who pissed themselves laughing

icon_th_rofl.gif I've just done the same thing myself only a week ago, the wife and i went to a bike meet on the Hoe in plymouth one evening, saw a friendly face and he asked if i could write down my mobil for him so i opened the top box and wrote it down on some paper for him and then i put the pen back into my bag in the topbox then closed the lid, only in horror i realized my keys were in the box as well, luckily had to get call my bro to pick up my spare set .

tother week got soaked on the way home...
hung up the jacket in the garage as is usuall when this happens...
and shut the garage door...
yep - house keys still in jacket pocket...
stuck outside - with no jacket!...
luckily the better half was local - so only stuck for 20 mins or so!...

Gonna get a spare key for the scooter cut and leave in my draw at work for exactly the same reason you have encountered...

spare doesn't 'need' to have the Imoberliser bit on it - cost etc just cut from a same size blank to operate the seat lock...

Only done this once so far (though also did it with one of my cars) - in my case I called the AA out, and they took me back to my house to collect spare keys and back to scoot. With the car, I went to nearby Nissan dealer and bought a spare key!

Other classic one is to try and ride off or rev the engine with a lock/chain still attached.
