Are Waterproof breathable scooter covers good or bad?

Post by Black Wing »

I used to have a Kawasaki 1400. GTR and sometimes covered it with a Waterproof, non- breathable cover which was a Kawasaki Accessory. I guess that condensation did the GTR no favours.

I have a Suzuki, lighter and breathable cover for my Burgman 650. I am still not convinced it is better than leaving it uncovered. Any views out there?

i have covered my scoots for 4 years now, fingers crossed no probs with the thiefs, keeps it dry and the air can pass under it so no condensation etc, cover when just got back no probs it helps to dry it out when engine is warm.. so personally i would always cover, an idiot who`s had a few can try nick something , or say "have a sit" ... just for fun when not covered, if covered they just walk past... thats my take on it but we are all different :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Good to know Michael.

Especially pleased to hear no condensation!

Love the look of the J300! My last two bikes were Kawasaki.:-)

Just a tip for cover usage ,due to my own experience and melting many holes in them from the the cover touching the can .I now always attach a piece of the heat shield material like whats used on belly pans and soft panniers where they can come close to heat sources .I found that the breathable ones are far better suited to being placed over a hot bike and have had no issues of condensation .

I use one if parked overnight in London, helps keep preying eyes and people who want to touch and sit on it away. I always use good heat proof covers.

get a plain type, no bike name or type, also keeps eyes off.

another thought when buying one.. i always buy one with stitched holes at the front and rear, ( most only have front only) that way you get your chains thr both ends of scoot and they obviously dont blow off or get nicked as easy.. they all tend to come with a belly strap... if you got a topbox fitted, go for the largest cover you can get as your scoot is bigger also, or it will be mid air at the rear :D oxford do a top box version cover yet only for scoots up to say the sh300 size... most come with the bottom of the rear being heat resistant :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Already got mine when I bought the bike.

Lot lighter than my Kawasaki one that was heavy duty but not breathable.
