Post by macamxthe1st »

Quick question folk's. Can anyone about 5'6" using a Givi on a Burgman 400 tell me are they looking through it or over it.

Thanks.

I'm a fair bit taller but i think every airflow I've seen including mine has been set toward maximum height and I'm still looking over the top, apart from couple of feet of Tarmac right in front of the bike.

If you look on burgmanusa there is a video somewhere where a bloke measures the height of the screen before and after he fits his airflow.
I will try to remember to compare the height difference on mine tomorrow

In my thick head I have this bit of useless information, the height of the screen should be level with your nose and 11'' away for maximum quietness.
I'm glad I've passed that on.

I did a very fast and and dirty aprox. measurement by holding the original screen up against my Givi airflow

This is measured vertically at the centre dip of the original screen

Airflow fully down = 1cm below the original :P
Aiflow fully up = 7cm above the original

That doesn't sound like a lot of movement but the adjustment track isn't vertical, it is angled so the actual profile changes quite a lot.

The aiflow over the top is going to catch you in a different place to me because of the height difference and helmet shape but I think you will get very little buffeting/wind noise

I get less noise than with the original screen
I've got an aerodynamic helmet and can definately feel my head being steered back to straight on by the acelerated boundary jet of air so the flow must be catching me high up on my helmet most of the time

If you fit the Givi Airflow with the ABS Version you have to remove the handguards :(

No problem :)
To be honest the dealer has fitted the screen and once I get the Scoot (7 Days and counting.......) I will see if I can refit the hand guards.
May need to trim a bit of plastic off the guards or something.....
The dealer did say it might be possible to fit them but obviously they were not going to start cutting bits out of a Brand new Scooter :)
The Airflow Screen does have its own Handguards built in by the way......
