speed difference

Just a query whats difference in top speed and power between piaggio X-EVO,400 and burgman 400cc

,because on sunday i had to cut rideout short cos wifes illness,and i was surprised just how quick the Evo was,
considering i had onlydone 53 miles on it since owning it,

They both do 70 mph which is what you can only do on the motorway.

ridinhigh, most Burgman 400's I've ridden seem to easily manage 93-95mph genuine (gps). But you need a private bit of the road to do that on. I've been lucky to find those private bits on the very very rare occassions I've gone that fast! I have little idea what the Ex-evo will achieve but must be a similar figure I would guess. Cruising at 70-75mph is very relaxing on the Burgman with the ability to 'jump' to 85mph very quickly should you need to. Again don't know about the other model you ask about. Top speed as you prolly know is not what these machines are really about. I regularly tramp up and down the A12 where the average speed is around 75-80mph all day for the majority of motorists. The Burgman is not out of place in that sort of traffic.

Thanks for reply mine will def go fro 70-75 to 85 very quickly.im very surprised at her acceleration,
in fact i touched 85 coming back on sunday cos of wifes illness its bloody mad i know,

i,ll probably never know its flat out speed, just too easy to get pulled these days

The more recent Burgers have 36 bhp I believe, whilst they used to have 33bhp for licencing reasons.

Still only 33hp or 34ps. But it is 36.3nm of torque at 5800rpm which is prolly what you were thinking about.

Silly me...I believed the figure in the Twist & Go 'What Scooter' guide!!! I should know better by now!!!! I shall go and buy a cheap Chinese moped as punishment.

Though I recall someone on a forum saying that performance on newer models had been beefed up compared to earlier ones.

Grumpy, I'm sure you are not silly! It's confusing though...as the power output on the 2007+ bikes with the bigger engine is different, more etc, but only by a small amount. Torque is up now to 36.3nm from 34nm or something. The way the engine delivers the power though is in my opinion much better with a better spread of torque, more of it everywhere and slightly more hp at the top end too. You also tend to find the mags quote PS mostly but some quote HP. Easy to lose where you are if you see what I mean! And yes, I too noticed T&G have the wrong photo of the Burgman 400 along with quoting the wrong power output figs.
