This month's Motorcycle Monthly arrived today. Nothing of scooter interest, but in the review of the new Caponord, there's an interview with Piaggio UK's marketing chief. He acknowledges that some people may be reluctant to buy Aprilias due to their poor spare parts service (too right!), but claims thats all in the past....and with Piaggio's new €40m spare parts centre (in Italy), you can get ANY part within 48hrs! That's one helluva claim....in the old days, getting parts within 48 weeks wasn't a certainty!
So Piaggio / Aprilia owners....how are you finding Piaggio's parts service these days????

Re: Aprilia/Piaggio Spares
Luckily I haven't needed any major spares for the Xevo (any I have needed such as the immobiliser aerial and an indicator switch were already in stock) but I wouldn't believe those claims. Doesn't Italian business pretty much shut down in August for a month?
I like the Aprilia SRV and the Mana but I wouldn't buy either not so much because of spares availability but more their reliability and the expense of fixing/maintaining them would make them impractical for everyday all year use.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Piaggio though if they actually had something worth upgrading to.

Re: Aprilia/Piaggio Spares
if there in stock with fowlers 24-48 hours
i dont see how a part can get from italy to fowlers and to you in that time. most things that arent in stock are made to order

It does not use fowlers. My dealer gets the parts direct from italy and so far it appears to be working. New bike took 3 days though

Re: Aprilia/Piaggio Spares
Ordered a part 28 Feb from AJ Sutton, cancelled order 17 Apr at 14:10 as it was still "ALLOCATED" after all this time.
Ordered prt at 17 Apr from AF1 Racing in the US at 14:27.
17 Apr at 15:21 I receive an email from AJ Sutton saying the status has been changed to "DISPATCHED"
17 Apr at 16:43 I receive an email from DPD saying the order fro AJ Sutton will be delivered on 18 Apr.
Seems like I'm now going to end up with two identical parts due to AJ Sutton messing about. I'm not best pleased to say the least, & AJ Sutton sending the part after I had asked them to cancel is way out of order. About time Piaggio & their network of suppliers get their house in order.

Just tell AJ Sutton to piss off. You cancelled your order so it's not your problem any more (I assume you have a record of this?)sad vampire wrote:Ordered a part 28 Feb from AJ Sutton, cancelled order 17 Apr at 14:10 as it was still "ALLOCATED" after all this time.

If you paid by credit card then you may have a bigger stick to beat them with as purchases over £100 the card company are jointly liable for the transaction.
Under the distance selling regulations you have 7 days to change your mind after the product turns up anyway (although you'd end up paying for return postage so screw that).
If all of the above doesn't work give trading standards a call and they'll help you out. Just don't lie there and take shit from these companies though or they'll take the piss, they're relying on the customer to be too lazy to make a fuss.

Suttons used to be very good, or at least I always found them to be. But I think they've expanded their online ordering quite rapidly but haven't upped their order processing, so deliveries take longer than they used to. They need a decent parts/logistics guy in there to sort things out in my opinion.
I had a set of rollers and sliders for my Leo 250 on order for over 3 months before I cancelled the order and got them from a Yamaha place overnight.

Re: Aprilia/Piaggio Spares
it seems odd with suttons that if one part is not in stock it messes up your complete order as they tend to hold the other parts.. instead of dispatching them first, all to do with costs , but you should have the option to have the instock parts dispatched....
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

When that's been the case for me, Suttons have always asked me if I wanted part order or to hold on for the full order.michaelphillips wrote:it seems odd with suttons that if one part is not in stock it messes up your complete order as they tend to hold the other parts.. instead of dispatching them first, all to do with costs , but you should have the option to have the instock parts dispatched....

Never used Suttons and never will, you can get parts from 'SIP' and 'Scooter centre' in Germany quicker and in alot of cases cheaper than suttons.
