So what gives...where is your redline? Has suzi decided the engines are so well proven that they can now roll out the redline a bit more without you seeing the exploded view?

REDLINE!...Where is yours??
Now guys, this may seem a funny question. But I have always thought that the redline for my new 400z abs was 9,000rpm. That's the figure I've had in my mind always and where I thought it began on the tacho. But just the other day I was cleaning the scoot and when polishing the instrument binnacle (this gives it extra speed!) I happened to notice the redline on mine begins at about 8850rpm! Not much difference of course from the 'in my mind' figure of 9k. But unless you look closely (which I've never done) you can easily mistake it for 9k. Ok I'm thinking, but then, since I'm laid up just now with a bad knee injury I'm watching lots of internet telly on the big plasma, to include lots of Burgman 400 acceleration tests and road tests etc (yeah, I know, I'm a sad git!). And I notice that the 2007+ bikes all have their redlines at 8500rpm! The engine specs all seem to be the same with max power at 7300rpm and max torque at 5800rpm.
So what gives...where is your redline? Has suzi decided the engines are so well proven that they can now roll out the redline a bit more without you seeing the exploded view?

Sfunny I was thinking the same this morning as I brusquely pulled out of my road this morning and glanced down the tacho was dropping from 7,000rpm. It goes right round to 13,000 but I cant see any redline.

My K4 doesn't have any red on the tach. I guess you know that you're over-revving when it hand-grenades on you.

Everything two-wheeler that I've ever owned was just waiting for me to pull the pin!Data wrote:Shite! there's hand grenades fitted in these things???...mightbesane wrote:My K4 doesn't have any red on the tach. I guess you know that you're over-revving when it hand-grenades on you.

Pulling the pin isn't too awful, things only start happening once the fly off lever has detached.

Re: REDLINE!...Where is yours??
You just know some do gooder is gonna come along and say they only EVER go to 5K revs, and there is absolutly no point in reving it any higher, dont you ?
Had my 04 burger 650 pinned for about 6-9 miles on the M55 the other day only got 112mph showing, think that was about 9000 revs, normal ?
