I owned one some years back. It was ok but, a big but, the mpg was shocking. Best of 50mpg travelling at 60mph. Anything faster or more spirited brought it down to mid to low 40's........sorry but that ruined it for me.

Had one a few years back a 2002 model, looked at 650 burgman this time but decided to go for another silverwing does all I need and reliability is spot on. I have noticed better mpg with this 2009 model. Enjoy your new bike.

Agreed - I regularly get 65mpg travelling at 70ish mph where legal.
I don't think that's particularly great but it seems on a par with similar sized machines.
Mine's a 2011 model.
I too can't see much point in buying one of the older thirsty models unless it is very cheap.
I think it's to do with the introduction of closed loop feedback within the oxygen sensing/fuelling system/ecu fairies magic that goes on.
No doubt someone far more brainy will shoot me out of the sky...

I didn't get a discount Whopping or not. This dealer advertised New Silverwings at £6195. When i pointed this out they said that was only with no part EX. Full price was £6995. As most other dealers nearly fainted when i said 40,000mls on it and, they were prepared to do a deal, i didn't have much choice. Cookie, you are not quite right! It's not fairies, it's Leprechauns who actually live in the engine fueling thingy and constantly adjust the variable fuel air ratio in accordance with the requirements of the underhead exhaust wheels. This stops the engine over fueling and prevents the reverberator from going too fast. Them poor old dealers have got to make the odd quid here and there ,however if that was a say cbf1000 of the same year and milage the dealer would still be asking a simular price retail but would have only given you a grand if you were lucky . Unless its stock they need to get rid off you will struggle to better the dealer unless you are prepared to be a little harder on them just like insurances .

My old swing at £2995. the bloody thieves, well it does need, an oil change and two new tyres(they are legal but, i would have changed them but for selling). They only gave me £1,200 for it. Never mind, I've fettled up the new one with my bits and bobs, Just clocked up 208mls coming back from Southport earlier.
