Alan,
The MRA - and by the sounds of it from Greyerbeard, they do stay put and don't move at motorway speeds. Mine on the Forza was rock steady even passing trucks on the Autobahns in Germany at 85mph. I also had an MRA on my CBF 600SA and that too was first class. As you say the damn thing on the ADV is just not wide enough but can't be as wide as the Forza was, due to the bar mounted mirrors on full lock. Hence my wish for a Forza with ADV suspension!

I have the DC Parts screen, which is wider and taller than the original. I'm very happy with it - seems pretty protective and quiet. Though to be fair, I've been mostly creeping around Cumbria's excuses for back roads at slow speeds rather than blasting up and down dual carriageways.

Thanks MrG, that one certainly looks like a big improvement over the stupid little thing Honda fitted. I'll have to wait until I get the Puig, to see which way I'll jump. We ride two-wheelers because we like being out in the elements but it's the helmet buffeting I'm trying to avoid or at least minimise. As far as weather protection goes, I've got good equipment for most situations and like you, some of my riding involves pootling and negotiating pot-holes.

Mr Grumpy,
I've just read your much earlier post saying that you often end up switching the hazard lights on by mistake when wanting the indicators. I was a bit confused as to how that was possible as the switch is on the right hand grip! Looking back at a few pics of earlier bikes, I discovered that they have indeed moved the hazard switch to the other side and made the horn button less vulnerable to accidental pressing.

It mystifies me that the hazards don't stay on when you switch the engine off, unlike every other vehicle I've owned!Orcadian wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 6:07 pm Mr Grumpy,

So if you stop to e.g. deal with something lying in the road, and put the sidestand down, the engine stops, the hazards go off...so you have to leave it on the centre stand with the engine running, which is never a good idea.
A good bike, but with quite a few oddities

Yes, its neatly placed next to the indicator switch on mine! Having partially got used to the ADV switch, I was on the Tmax the other day and repeatedly blew the horn when trying to indicate! Doh!!!Orcadian wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 6:07 pm Mr Grumpy,

Yes, it's strange that the manufacturers can standardise on certain stuff, yet allow some recently qualified design pillock to come up with all kinds of unnecessary gimmicks - I remember the indicator switch system on the K100 BMW - WHY on earth was that progress?
Leaving the scoots on the centre stand with the engine running can throw a fault with the ABS as the rear wheel trundles round but the front is stopped - happened once only on my Forza!
Another stupid bit of legislation is that the kill switch now shuts everything down - I recently repaired a friends KTM where the almost inaccessible oil filter cover had stripped threads on both M5 holding bolts. When finished repairing, I wanted to crank the engine over to get oil pressure before start up. No, the kill switch prevents that facility, which is present on all of my 4 cylinder Hondas from the 70's
Grrrr!!!
