Re: Anyone up for an adventure
Peter, I am at my daughter's at this time (collecting my car) but once back home I may very well find that my son has had chance to check it over and all will be ready again. CN had long conversation yesterday, and gave me the number of the recovery agents to whom my complaint should be directed. I phoned them and they are looking into .matters. As the conversation went on I was told a call was made to my daughter at 5-40 pm to the effect that all they needed was a call back to confirm I still needed help. Then as that was being said the voice on the other end dropped an octave! My daughter got her phone out and confirmed no such call was made. "Oh no it wasn't was it" I heard the lady say. I anticipate an apology any day now and we will see how they propose to put matters right. Interesting times. Will keep you in the picture.
Brittany ferry costs just too much thanks for the offer though.

Re: Anyone up for an adventure
Hi, an update, three days fetteling and the reason for the stoppage was as my tech y son so predicted .... the coil. Confirmed it by buying a coil from the local scrapyard, wiring it in and there it was going like a good un. All I gave to do now is take the duff one off, and then put all the Tupperware back on. still nice to know what stopped it. Once on the road, I will give it a few runs to satisfy myself all is OK and then plan the trip gain. The insurance company are looking into my complaint, and I may get the ferry costs and petrol repaid.
An update will follow in due course.

Next up date,
Ordered a brand new generic coil. They promised delivery by today. No luck. Perhaps tomorrow. I want the plastic back on before it rains. We will see.

Re: Anyone up for an adventure
Ian thanks for the update, look forward to meeting you. We will come to some mutually acceptable arrangement then.
There is a ride out with the Algarve Senior Bikers on the 16th, would be only two scooters, yours and mine.
They have assured me it would be ok, but bikers lie. I haven't been out with them before but they come accross ok, they're on the web.
If you want to fly over anytime in the current mot period and use the bike for touring in Spain/Portugal, or if you take ownership, (which I think you richly deserve) run it back to the UK later.
I could store it here and collect you from Faro airport etc etc.
I have two spare rooms at present and the pool is almost warm enough to use.
In addition I have a large twin axle caravan on the drive with efficient air con.
A sort of fly-ride-fly arrangement might appeal to some.
Hope your luck imoroves next time.
Regards Peter

Re: Anyone up for an adventure
Next update. Generic coil fitted. PITA. The bolts holding the original in would not come out and ultimately I was left with two studs. Sorted it with the lathe at son in laws machine shop. Made two threaded tubes to screw onto the stubs, and then cut down bolts to screw into the tubes. All great and dunky. It started. Set to to replace the Tupperware, half way through, son came home, so I thought I would show off and show my prowess and ..... would not start. Intermittent fault. So far the plastics have been on and off three times ... it is a bugger. Need a day off as my fingertips are sore with all the endeavours. Will start again tomorrow. I don't like to be beaten.
Yours Ian Giggal.
