My daughters little off !

Post by Mark »

As you know bought my daughter a brand new lexmoto dart.
Well been really hard trusting her going to work. Even though shes done cbt.
well had a phone call last monday off her to say, ive had a little accident.
Cut a long story short, she was willing to ride home.

Transpires she pulled over to re ajust her gloves. Leaned on
the throttle and yes......the throttle twisted, kicked her off to
the left onto the floor and bike went forward and then hit the left hand side.

Shes fine but bike scratched in places. Hopfully that will be the only one !

Reminds me of the time I try to move my 1st scoot around by pulling on the right handlebar, with the engine running. Forgot that the handlebar contained the throttle....

Being a paranoid father i have drummed it into her. Engine off, dismount and stand down !!!
Then sort yourself out.

Any body else feel that cbts are not enough ?

When i paseed cbt i was out all the time. I need to keep onto her to go out but she only goes around the block.

My first day out on my brand new B125 after CBT, I forgot I had to lean to take a corner whilst coming out of a T Junction... hit the curb on the opposite side and came off. Second time I came off was 3 months later on approach to a different T junction due to a sheet of black ice. There's only so much advice you can give and lessons you can take, some you just have to find out for yourself.

Glad she is ok! The problem is 'inexperience'...you can't actually teach that, just warn them. They have to actually learn about stuff themselves. But, she won't make that mistake again.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

A bike can be replaced, she can't. So long as she's ok (Lesson Learned) icon_blah.gif
My wife got onto my bike with the engine running and put her hand on the throttle for balance and very nearly took off through the hedge into my neighbors garden, so now i don't start the bike until I get on. lol icon_shocked_.gif
