to be honest i would not change the contra spring or the clutch shoe springs as the amount of gain you will experience will not give you much extra... concentrate on the dr pulley rollers 17gm or 19gm.... dr pulley dont do the sliders to go with the rollers and you cant buy the hit clutch for your scoot either which is a bloody shame.. :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

spindal wrote:Anonstarter,How much quicker do you think your bike is now with the 17g sliders, and are you happy with it or do you think it revs just a bit to much.I do a lot of local up and down hills and my average trip is about 15miles but now and then do a motorway trip to Cardiff of about 80 miles.
Yes I am happy with the 25x22 17G Dr Pulley "sliding rolls" (Available from http://www.drpulley.info/shop/index.php?cPath=47_104" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) and there was a profound difference when I first installed them. I need to add that at the same time I had also fitted a new belt and had cleaned out the housing and clutch as well. It took off like a rocket! It's very hilly here in St.Ives and the lighter sliders are ideal for accelerating up them. I use the A30 twice a day and the rev limiter has only cut in once @9000rpm on a very windy day. Another thing I've discovered is the large Fabbri Screen does affect acceleration and speed:
anonstarter wrote:It's been very windy here over the past few days whilst I've been doing some 'experiments'.
There's a stretch of the A30 dual carriageway between Pool and Camborne that has a slight dip and I rode in both directions with the OEM Screen, the (extra large) Fabbri screen and no screen at all. For the first time ever the rev limiter cut in at 9k showing 95mph with the Standard Screen and the wind behind. It was quite disconcerting how it would stutter the power. With the Fabbri Screen fitted I could hear the engine, the scoot felt slower, displayed 85mph, but there was some rear buffeting that was uncomfortable. With no screen the bike felt (psychologically) faster, more 'flick-able', oddly quieter but I had to 'hang on' as it showed 85mph. Going into the wind was a different story. Oem Screen: 80mph. Fabbri Screen: 75mph! No Screen: 80mph but hanging on.
I do know my speedo is ambitious, when it says I'm doing 90 - 'My Tracks' (Google App) says I'm doing 82mph. ;)
The experiment above was done with the 17G sliding rolls installed.

I did a 900 mile jolly up to meet the Motley Muppets (http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/forum/vie ... 6087&hilit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I did consider the benefits of 19G for the journey, but for some strange reason I decided to keep the 17's in for all the drag racing we didn't do! ;)

I would certainly recommend 17G!

Thanks for that Anonstarter, nice read.I think I will get some 17g rollers fitted when I change the belt, about 2k to go so not long.I too have noticed how the Fabbri screen cuts down the speed and also changes the handling when its windy, but I like being snug behind it.I found the oem screen was killing my eardrums with buffeting so while I was waiting for my Fabbri screen to come I cut my oem screen down by about 5ins to get rid of the buffeting. This was done by cutting it down bit by bit untill it was just right, now I have a summer screen and a snug screen.I have had a few large scooters and have found that the screen has to be almost custom fitted to suit you otherwise you are never going to be happy with it.Lots of jiggery pokery cutting and money and you just might be happy with it,pity the manufactures could not spend a bit more effort on this subject. Thanks again.
