Afaik the engine is based on the SH but has different valve gear and an offset cylinder.
thanks for that, i was wondering, because i could not understand why honda have doubled the oil service requirements :?: i know that longer service intervals are a definite plus, but as the honda sh300 had 4000 mile service intervals and i think both scoots are about 1.4 ltr of oil, would it be not detrimental to the scoots health to double the intervals, i only pose this question as a technical one as i am not that oil techy myself, i suppose that if you keep an eye on the crankcase breather that it does not fill up :?: cheers in advance to the tech guys :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

For me it's not about the actual engine as an oil change for me is a couple of pounds and 15 minutes, it's about being sucked into a £100 bill and hours going to a dealer and back.

Therefore the longer the interval the better :).

BTW Synthetic oil (useless for running in!) lasts considerably longer than mineral or cracked (semi-synth) due to the fact that synthetic oil is pure oil, whereas mineral oil/semi is thin oil mixed with plastic thickeners - and the plastic gets shredded into varnish.
