Came across a friend of a friend who has a 2013 650 with just 600 miles on it, owned since May.
Just about to clock up more mileage as he puts his summer bikes away and uses the B650 more.
However he isn't happy that the heated seat and grips keep switching off, for up to 15 minutes before kicking back in again.
He doesn't do forums, so I said I ask in here if others have had this - and if so, was it resolved.
He has had no joy, or even slightest interest from Suzuki UK - they even claim its the way that these items work!!!
Any replies appreciated, and owner will be responding, so feel free to ask or tell based on own experiences
Thanks in advance

Didn't the old ones do that too?
I thought I'd read it on http://www.Burgmanusa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; forum somewhere

Re: 2013 NEW styled 650 owners....problems??
I've had my 2011 L1 B650 for 2 years now and not had an issue with the heated seats. The grips are also okay apart from the throttle grip had to be rotated so the heat was on the palm and not fantastically hot. Wonder if the 2013 model now has a temp cut off? I would possibly point to an overheating relay and will not work until cooled down, hence the 15 minutes.

Meldfrew, think he was just testing them out - although he is even older than you, so may feel the cold more

Well 15 minutes of them not working is pretty useless for a 20-25 minute commute....
And if the pre-2012 models stayed on all the time, why change ??

Re: 2013 NEW styled 650 owners....problems??
Gt, yes I believe that's how they should work. But it's dependent on a couple of things as to how long they switch off for, and that's engine speed and road speed. My 2012 400za abs is the same regarding the heated grips. The grips now fitted to the Burgmans are digitally controlled. When your engine revs drop below a certain level the grip heaters and presumably the heated seat on the 650, turns off temporarily to protect the battery. This happens when idling at lights and junctions, and I'm pretty sure too, when travelling very slowly in traffic. If cruising normally at 30mph or above they should be fine, but if you drop down to 20mph the grips and seat will turn off briefly. However, if your friend is not doing many miles on his Burgman or mainly short trips, and the battery is not getting much charge then the grips and heated seat will stay switched off for longer to give the battery longer to catch up. Pretty sure that's all it is. My 400 with the digital grips turned off the grips for around 10 mins after I nearly ran the battery down by leaving the bike parked with the parking lights switched on by mistake. Once the battey caught up it was fine but they do still switch off at idle and when going very slowly in traffic when you are using lots of brake (loads of stop light power) and low engine revs.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Thanks for the replies, I'll email him tomorrow - It may be that he's only tried them out whilst not even moving.

Re: 2013 NEW styled 650 owners....problems??
Found a couple of threads on Burgman USA, they were talking about 2009 and 2011 models.
They are talking about the cutoff point being 5000 revs but I don't know where's that figure comes from.
Like Data says the 400 factory grips switch off at standstill/low revs and seem to come on as soon as revs pick up again. It is mentioned in the manual so his answer might be in there somewhere.
