Some of the ones I've met were a few sandwiches short of a picnic but they are subject to extensive selection criteria, are extremely gifted, highly skilled individuals and most definitely not the typical road user who might buy one of these stupid gadgets.

The big difference between the air and road application of a HUD is that in the air application there is a shitload of stuff to monitor inside the cockpit and the HUD helps get the eyes out the cockpit where they are needed.

On the road the HUD just adds stuff the rider simply doesn't need to see.
Things like satnav, which as we all know is for morons with no sense of direction. And women.

(and if you can't see that there's a joke in there best get down to specsavers)

Thinking about a motorcycle HMD -

Reinforcing the tunnel might be harder than getting the tech. working. The tunnel length determines how far ahead of the visor you need to focus ( unless they are getting really tricky). The legal tint level might be an issue.
