Forza - Phone lead routing - Will I have to drill?

I'm off to Italy on the Forza and have grasped the nettle and fitted a phone mount (I'm more of a paper map and post-it person. generally). My question is: to run a lead from the USB in the cubbyhole to the mount, is there a way of doing this without compromising the waterproofing? Or do I need to drill a hole somewhere? It's a quadlock, fitted to the righthand brake reservoir.

All advice gratefully received, including on using Waze/Google maps or another GPS app!

Tante grazie (as they say in Italy :) )

I'm not proud, but mine is simply routed so the cubby hole door closes on it. The cable is chafing, but it's done 8000 miles like that and cables are basically free if you buy anything electronic once in a while. Secured to the bodywork with stick on cable tie bases. Never leaked.

Thanks Andy, sounds like my kind of solution :-)

Does the cubby hole let much water in when caught in a downpour? Or do you just remove the lead if it looks like rain?

The cubby hole is completely dry, I never move the cable. I keep a woolly hat in there in winter and it's never unpleasant to put on, a fair measure of dampness IMHO.

The phone mount is a wireless charging quad thingy, so it probably helps that the cable isn't moved?

I can’t be arsed with mobile phones at the best of times so mine stays in my jacket pocket. However I used the plug socket in the glovebox pocket of my 2018 Forza 300 to power my Garmin sat nav. I just used to plug the the lead in and close the glovebox lid with the lead down the bottom near the hinges. The lid always closed, the Garmin always had power, and the cable never suffered any damage. The exact same hack/bodge or whatever you’d like to call it worked for years on the Silver Wing I used to have too.

This is all sounding easier than I thought :-) :-)

It's easy, just looks so wrong.

The correct solution is proper connectivity. The Forza nailed on control under the left grip and awful RoadStink app is Honda trying to keep up with the Chinese and join this century. I'll forgive the clown who wasted half the display on a rev counter whose reading you have absolutely no control over, he'll have been a 55 year old salary man who had to please a 60 year old former race exec. They should have sent the in house developers new letter openers in brown envelopes though and gone with a real tech solution. Simple mirroring and something like car play. They are getting closer.

The idea of attaching a single purpose device when I have a universal one in my pocket is insane, so we have to adapt until the motorcycle manufacturers catch up.
