The seat strut on my 650 is knackered and the seat falls down all the time so I priced one up at my local bike shop, just short of £100  so i said don't bother I'll use a piece of wood if I have to. There must be a strut off something else that will work, any suggestions I can't be the first one to have this problem.

Recently I was involved in a discussion on Silverwing600 about Seat Struts.
One chap bought one from Amazon.com
It's from the States and probably not the right one for you but I thought I'd post this to be encouraging. ;)

All information gratefully recieved, so thank you Waldorf. I've got to measure it, which isn't easy as the bottom end is buried in the bodywork, there's some writing on it which I want to read but it.s tiny so I'll need my glasses. I did find a video that says the bodywork might not have to come off to replace it, hopefully.

Thanks Ralph, I googled gas springs and there's a place in Derby that does them which is only about thirty mile from here.

Bobby, thanks sorry for not getting back to you earlier just noticed your post. I haven't measured mine yet shall try tomorow. I've just been trying to find out if they are compatible but without much success as they seem to be different for different years.
