Farewell BMW tourer ... heading to maxi-scooter land

Test rode a Yamaha T-Max Tech Max 560, 2022, yesterday.

Really liked it. So I bought it. Guess I'm joining the maxi-scooter movement 🤪 That's why I'm here.

(Really don't know why scooters are much less popular in UK than "on the continent", can't just be climate.)

I'm saying goodbye to my trusty touring steed, a 2014 (wet) BMW R1200RT LE (pictured).

Also saying goodbye to the 'second car', a first-generation Nissan Leaf. BMW was a bit big for the little trips. Seemed a waste of the Leaf as well but too convenient.

Hoping to be a regular commuter and little trips user of the scooter. Handy for the longer occasional trip when I fancy. Going to need top box etc but not much out for this model yet.

Will take me a while to get used a bike so much smaller and lighter. Really impressed by its agility (and filtering is so much easier).

Wish me luck... and fun rides.

the t-max is a fine machine, I'm sure you will like it. I also has a first gen Leaf, sold it a couple of years ago as was worried about depreciation when the newer model came out.

My last “big bike” an RT1200. Lovely bikes. However I enjoy the maxi scoot just as much really. It does what it says on the tin. Is very fuel efficient and still goes at well over NSL if I wanted to. Welcome to a new world. You’ll enjoy it.

Mostly the popular motorcycling press and their influence. 8-)

I've had most of the Maxi's over the last 20+ years, before that Pan-Europeans, BMW's and enjoyed everything. The real bonus with the scooters is keeping dry feet and not having that water trap between the seat and tank.
