Review in MCN of the new 400.

Got to say, although I know MCN isn't a fan of scooters, it does sound a bit disappointing. More expensive than the Xmax300 and the XADV350 but offering no more power and certainly less MPG.

Re: Burgman 2022
29bhp is a bit disappointing if true, given that every Burger 400 since 2001 has had 33bhp! Suzuki has obviously decided to scale it downwards to compete with the Xmax 300 / Forza 350 etc, but that's a crowded sector! The old Bigger Burger versions at least offered a more touring alternative.

Although I’ve loved my ‘15 model the update in 2017 was a retrograde step and this latest change is even worse. Less BHP same weight? I’ll be changing my Burger for a ADV350 in the not too distant future. More mpg, less weight, better power for weight ratio, same storage (with topbox) what’s not to like?

Yeah....hard to disagree. The Burger 400 seems to have lost any distinctiveness. With the Big Burger gone as well, I can't help feeling that Suzuki are missing a trick or two here. With their expertise, they really ought to be able to come up with something that would compete with the Tmax / Forza 750 in some way, even if a direct head to head isn't the way to go. There is obviously a decent market - 200k+ Tmaxs have been sold, and even in the UK, the Forza seems to be popular.

Re: Burgman 2022
I did enjoy riding my 2010 b400 while it lasted but I think the 20180+ models are cheaped out design. yes it has a few add ons but every model before always bettered the one before and here it isnt. the b400 imo has the largest under seat storage of any scooter. im pretty sure larger than any scooter out there. this new one is much smaller. smaller seat and small backrest vs the older b400 wrap around. styling is meh. looks like a 300cc. old gen had nice pillion foot plates to put the whole foot vs the new which are pegs. it just seems they cheaped out. it does have led lights and a 15" wheel vs previous 14" they lowered the hp I think to be more compliant with polution.

I don't get this 15" Vs 14" wheel thing. Because the 15" has a lower aspect ratio tyre, the overall diameter / rolling radius is about equal.
At least the taller tyre wall of the 14" gives some compliance, so easing out road "imperfections".
Agree on everything else said - I got one of the last of the old model, an AL6.
Hopefully it will last out my remaining riding years.
