My scooter search kept getting delayed for one reason or another but today I rode down to midland scooter center and took a Piaggio X10 350 for a short ride. Mostly I was impressed but not quite impressed enough.
Pro's
Beautiful looking scooter
comfortable
smooth ride even over the bumps
way faster than I expected
the engine is brilliant dead smooth
Cons
mirrors aren't verygood, handle bar mounted and too close so I had to make a effort to see through them.
the wind and weather protection was not as good as I expected, the windscreen is a bit short and too narrow, not as good as the NT 700
It just felt odd, though given a couple of hours riding I think I could get used to it. Maybe I was expecting too much.
£700 for the NT in part ex, OK I know it's not worth a lot but I expected A bit more. Cheap NT 700 anybody.

Test rides are funny things! I don't think I've ever had a very useful one of a bike or scoot I've intended to buy. All you usually find out is just how different what you are test riding is to what you have now! The only ones that are useful are the longer demo rides dealers/importers sometimes organise. Even then, I've never been blown away.
I guess it depends on whether it meets your needs. Sometimes its just down to your gut feeling!
Yes, the Piaggio 350 engine is a beast!!!!!

I think test rides and been useful in quickly convincing me that certain bikes aren't for me. Probably the only time I was blown away was riding the SH300. I'd arrived on a BMW R850R, so I rode off like the SH was a 125. Then I looked down and thought "how fast?". Then I went round the first roundabout and got a slight scrapping sensation. This was fun! By the time I was back at the dealer it was a no brainer.
Maybe you should try the Beverley 350, which (sith a Givi screen fitted) gives good weather protection.

The test rides on bikes that I've had on bikes before have been useful because they have been long rides where I could go where I wanted, for as long as I wanted, but this was on a set route which by accident I didn't stick to. If it had been longer on more varied roads I may have been more impressed. On the bike I have now I did about 40 miles and on the previous one quite a lot longer, I bought both bikes.

What Mottza says! The 300 Forza is bullet proof! Or ..have you tried the GTS300ie abs/asr Vespa? It's obviously not a full maxi but it surprises a lot of people when they take a ride. It did me. From 2014 they have better performance plus traction control, abs, enhanced sliding suspension for some models, slightly bigger underseat storage, etc. Take a look, very fast too.
Take a look below at my review of the Vespa GTS300 in the Piaggio reviews section on this site. There's a picture or two also. Good luck.

The only scooter I have evepr bought, without a test ride, was my present Cruisym 300. I knew within the first two minutes that, it suited me perfectly. After three and a half years and 42000 km it still ticks all my boxes. My Silverwing600, that I still have, i ride once a week to keep everything fresh, but, I would sell it gladly to someone that needs a bigger Scooter.

All i can say is , i sat on the Forza but found it a little cramped. The Cruisym has an extended front, for more leg room, and this was one reason to buy. I do my own servicing and have no touble changing the oils and filters. Moto GB are the main importers, and my local dealer has been very helpful. Engine is smooth and responsive and cruising at 50/60 mph i get over 90 MPG. I also like the fold in mirrors and the fact that the indicators are Not on the mirrors. I bought mine new in 2018.

I am drawn to the X 10 ,more power bigger wheels, and just looks so much better than a lot of others , mirror extenders are cheap and Givi do a taller screen with a bit of hand protection.
