re the Yamaha Tricity 300, I have 2 questions.
1- I am only 5'-4" tall with an inside leg of 27", the ride height of the Tricity 300 is quite high, higher than the Xmax 250 I had, and the bike is physically wide.
it is also quite a heavy bike, I can only get my tippy toes to the ground when stopped, I have been to an upholsterer to remove some Saddle foam, it has helped and I can just about get 1 foot to the ground. i would prefer for safety reasons , particularily as i use it for my daily commute thru city traffic, if I could put both fee to the ground
I think the solution is to get a saddle custom made, so I am looking for a custom saddle maker in the UK.

2- being short I find that when riding i am looking thru the windscreen, rather than above it, so when it rains my view is obscured. I have removed the screen, however for wind deflection/protection I would like to get a shorter screen or get the screen cut,. I have checked the Yamaha site & also Givi but nothing shorted that the standard

I am hopeful that I am not the only person that has the issue, of height off the ground.
Any help with either question most welcome

I think that you must be the first person to find a standard screen too Tall!! Most people find them far too short! It is certainly possible to cut down screens - I had a go at the screen on my old mk1 Tmax many years ago, and got the enormous Honda accessory screen on the SH300 cut down to something less ridiculous. There are a lot of screen manufacturers around in Europe, so worth having a good trawl round the web, including Ermax, Secdem, Puig, and quite a few others you've never heard of.

thanks for this, between the helmet visor & the screen I found the view was slightly fuzzy, the screen not being quite optical quality, also when it rains, the rain on the screen blocks the view, so driving safety over wind blocking.
many bikes have no screens, so I dont mind too much not having a screen.
I will google the companies you have mentioned.
now just to resolve the saddle height issue.

I have cut a screen down a few years ago,it takes courage and a second pair of hands to hold the screen,a new blade on your jig saw,one continuous cut,dont stop to admire your handy work,you can do that later.

Re-the seat,i see you are in Ireland,is there a Harley dealer there(yep,you have one Ballymount),if people have the money for a Harley,custom seats or alterations to the original seat are one of the extras opted for,the dealer may be able to give you a link to the custom seat fabricator they use,go to the local Harley Owners Group,gaelicchapter.com,they must have a guest section you can post a question,they dont have know you’re not an owner yet….

I did mine with a hacksaw. Pretty awful job as you'd expect! I'm told that a strange thing can happen if you are using something like an electric saw that generates heat- the screen will reweld itself back together! Apparently its not unknown to cut through the screen, and then find that its seamlessly joined itself back together! Like everything, its probably easy with a bit of skill and the right tools!
Yes, you are quite right to cut it down so you can see over it. Looking through a screen in the rain is very scary!

1 mm plasma cutting discs do a good job , I cut down my Givi screen with one, put 50mm masking tape around the edge to set a line and cut away ,make sure it is a disc that cuts plastic.

I have used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade successfully in the past. Not too much pressure, masking tape to protect the screen and lots of support. Do Givi make an adjustable screen for your scooter ?

I can vouch for that: first hand experience!
Use the saw on a slow setting.

I found cutting down my Givi Screen (on a 400 Burg) quite easy, I did mine on the bike, careful use of plenty of wide (50mm) masking tape, inside and out, careful marking out of sight line on the tape, when seated on scoot, new metal cutting Jigsaw blade, go steadily, finish the edge with wet and dry paper on a rubbing block.
I deliberately cut my screenn a bit low and then fitted an adjustable "Puig" wind deflector. It all works a treat, there's nothing worse than trying to see through a screen in the rain, especially at night.
ps. use a dustsheet to stop "sawdust" going down behind dash.
