One of the most difficult questions when evaluating the latest electric scooters is how far it will go on a charge. I am trying to come up with some realistic estimates based on quoted battery capacities but there is huge variation caused by different speeds and riding conditions. So I would like your help in finding out what is a typical ride for forum members. I respectfully ask that you only provide information for scooters capable of typical traffic speeds, lets say above 60 mph, even if you don't ride them that quickly. Don't include engine-off stops in your calculations.

If I can get enough information I'll come up with a simple formula to obtain possible range for a given battery capacity.

Allow for stops, traffic, etc as well as your real speed when moving on a national speed limit road and it has always come out at 30mph when I look at when I started and when I arrived.

I know of people who used to boast of averaging 80mph on their journey and all it means is, they were tallking b***ocks.

Depends so much on the road type! When I visit Essex, its all dual carriageway/ motorway and I usually travel at quiet times (in the car), so average journey speed there is very close to 70. On the other hand, a trip through town will drag your speeds well down. Most of my scooter journeys are on rural roads with a mix of main roads and country lanes, and you'd struggle to do more than 35-40 as an average on those.
