Well it looks as if the City Grip 2 is in response to the Pirelli Angel.

Michelin themselves show a direct comparrison even.

Must have dented Michelins sales enough for a slight panic, or at least realisation.

The reason I am so interested is that the City Grip 1 ! is such a nice and soft tyre that they absorb the bumps so much better than any other tyre as far as I could tell.

If it wasn`t for the CG1 I`d of had to let my Silverwing go here. As naff road city, not in the city.

Though I imagine many citys are fairly ( or very ) naff too in the UK.

Certainly any unit swing !!! scooter would of benefitted using a CG1.

From what I can just about gather so far is that they are still farily soft, though slightly more mileage biased so maybe a tad or two harder.

Bugger.

Apologies for replying to old thread.

I’ve just installed a pair of these on my scooter. Done 200 miles or so and I’d say they really inspire confidence. Bike handles really well and they have not felt unsettled as yet. Wet riding seems good even though they are still technically only just run in.

They look good too.

CityGrip 2's going on my Vespa soon. I've heard nothing but good reports about them. Since my CG 1's are so good, I have no doubts about them.

Well I recently bought two new old city grips and one City Grip 2 that was supposed to be a usual city grip ( 1 ).

The Compound is similar but does feel slightly harder overall on the CG2, so maybe going for more mileage with the new version.

Not sure if the little hole things at the end of the sipes are to help with Bump absorbtion, supposed to be on the angel.

Won`t be getting the CG 2 fitted any time soon as need to put the two old versions on first.

I might even try to hoover up a couple more earlier ones, I did try that though, so need to be sure its a CG1.

I`ll admit I`m more after bump absorbtion as an old crocky chuffer now, and the SW is`nt the best at the back.

But I`d say the CG2 looks like a great tyre.

Just had one fitted yesterday to my Xevo yet to try it on the road .I took the wheel off and ran it down to a local garage that will fit tyres they do not supply ,the guy was working on a V12 E type, rides a C90 and had a scoot on his ramp .
Buying tyres to fit in the future is not good as they have a time stamp on them . My CG2 is marked MS .
