Headlight bulbs

Post by basil 69 »

I know this might seem a silly question to some but as I don't do any maintaninence at all on my scoot except put petrol in and check fluid levels, one of my headlight bulbs (h11) has stopped working so no dipped or full beam. I'm assuming it just needs replacing but were is the best place to get a bulb from?
Normally in the past I would go to Halfords but recently I have not been impressed by the quality of the bulbs regardless of make.

Any maxisym owners had to change the bulb, is it easy to do :?:

Main Dealer... Or google for 'Motorfactors' near where you are...
Personaly, i would just go to Halfords if they are nearest...
Its a bulb, just get an Osram or Phillips, although the Halfords branded ones are prolly made by a Major...
I wouldnt let any issues get in the way of conveniance.

Here's an Autoexpress test on bulbs. These are H4 but I guess similar results are available with H11. I've read a few of these tests over the years and, basically, the best bulbs are branded products. One of the higher output ones would be worth a pop I suppose.

You know you need an H11 bulb it does not matter what else it fits. Personally I go on EBay for most things but, I use H7 bulbs in my Silver wing, and the Pound shop had two on a pack for one pound. Halfords wanted Seven pounds for one bulb. Changing headlight bulbs usually is straight forward, just take your time and look how things are put together. Remember changing bulbs is needed from time to time so it will not be that hard.

Just watched the video. Stuff that! Taking half the front apart? There must be an easier way than that.
