First Scoot of 2018

Well Thursday I needed my son`s to help me get the old silverwing Lady out of the garage where she has languished for nearly 6 whole months, with just a few starts here and there, to keep her sweet. Its over grass, on a little hill, so the odd bit of slipping with all the rain we`ve all been having, and a quick Heave Ho or two, and I was out and on harder ground.
Out into a bright, warmish day, and the prospect of her first MOT with me.
Though, it brought me to a small shock when I got to where my local Bike MOT chap had moved too.
As he had moved, he has had to fit a laser light sight thing, and running brake road etc and move up to full current specs and expectations.
Gone are the days of a quick shuftie, and thats OK mate sort of thing.
My T max MK1 had sailed through with him 7 happy times.
Not so sure what the Silverwing was going to do with the new set up !!! and its couple of niggles I still need to sort.
But The Good Lady went straight through, even with all the high tech gizzmo`s etc.
He even checked the linked braking.
Managed 59 on both brakes, and needed to be over 30 so all was good.
There is nothing quite like grasping your new MOT piece of paper !!! after a clean sweep.
Even though its only a cheap printed sheet of A4 now, it still feels great.
The sun was still out, and warming up even more, so carpet fitters knee pads on ( very handy for us oldies ). Inner gloves in the gloves, an extra jumper on under everything, and off in to the Sun, yes the real Sun, and even with a cool wind it was lovely.
What a feeling, and a rush of wow etc.
Last years was in a grey, wettish, cold, and grisly day, so not quite as much fun as 2018.
It was just so great to be out, and away on the open road, even with the crazy wrong side of the road steering wheel graspers etc on our small single lanes.
I had nearly succumbed in two wheel desperation, to popping out on my sons BMWR1100RT last week, but I had decided against risking all of my sore bits doing a bunk, and going out on strike, as a bit of a beast, so I waited for my easy Maxi ride to break the fast.
Some lovely miles in Yorkshire, and after my seemingly mandatory 20 odd mins every time out, to bond with the Silverwing, back in biking bliss again.
Throbbing along, and loving the Silverwing`s almost 600 twin mill down there, all scooters should have one like that !!!
Anyway fingers crossed we all get a few really nice rides etc this year, and get some good help and encouragement out of this great little forum as we go.
Best Mark.
