ABS problem

Hi all.

2009 Bergman 400.

Today while riding I squeezed my rear brake lever and it felt hard and lumpy the way it does when the ABS kicks in. I wasn't breaking hard or anything, it happened before the I took up the slack or had any braking effect. The lever then sort of went past that point and braked normally. The ABS warning light was illuminated.

It happened several more times during my ride home, always at speeds over 30mph and always seemingly before the pads had actually put any pressure on the disc.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be please?

Dirty disc or contaminated brake pad (oil,acf50) no meat left on pad. Can't recall but think front lever only works both F&R but been a while since burgman gone.

Though if abs light on road conditions as weather has turned and qithvrain greasey road surfaces

If the lamp ( abs ) came on whilst you were riding it should have produced a fault code, you could always read it and see what is at fault.

Thanks for the advice peeps.

How to clean the ABS rings? Perhaps a scrum with an old tooth brush?

If I fix it will the ABS lamp go out or does it have to be re set?

How do I read the fault code please?

Make sure the rear wheel axle bolt and the front one for that matteris tight as any looseness can give the ABS mixed messages.

The ABS light usually goes out at 10mph, each time you start it and move off, not sure it sends any fault codes to the ECU.

Quick update.
Cleaned ABS ring and sensors and it was cured. Yippee!

5 miles later, the light came back on. Boo!

Checked and cleaned everything again, and in the process l noticed that my rear wheel was loose. Lol.

Tightened it up and I'm all good now. Phew!

Thanks all.

Also, had a chap bring his Burgman in with the same issue, and it was a front caliper that was loose causing the same issue.
