Service parts.

Hi. Took my 400 k8 out for a ride this morning then drained the oil to make a start on servicing it. The last owner assured me he had changed the belt, but looking by the colour of the oil when I changed it in the autumn I decided he was probably lying.
Sure enough inside the teeth I can see it's starting to crack so should probably be changed (20,000 miles). So any recommendations for parts suppliers either on line or an old fashion counter in the south east I can lean on.
Have had a read on line and think an original one sounds less hassle. I also need an air filter as mine has bits missing out of it which alarmed me a little, is this the only filter in the engine?

Thanks
Russell.

Wemoto in Brighton do Burgman spares - OEM belt around £100, OEM air filter about £30, pattern one £25. Unless you're local to there, there'll be P&P on top of that.

I would say stay away from aftermarket parts like belts as I've had bad experiences with Polini and Malossi belts with my previous Tmax. I would always buy oem where posible

Since they are local to me I cant comment on their shipping since I call in but I have always found Wemoto to be very good.

Yes, I'd stick with Suzuki parts as they last best. Suzuki air filters are now cheaper than some after market parts. A year ago I paid just £23.50 for my genuine over the counter Suzuki one from Orwell m/c's in Ipswich. Suzuki has repositioned many of it's service parts, price wise, to be very competitive. No other filters to worry about at the moment on your bike, but just clean the transmission filter and do it every 1800 miles otherwise the tranny belt, clutch and bearings get too hot as nice clean cool air cannot get through to cool the transmission and move the dust out of the engine case and clutch.

Are you sure the Wemoto belt is a genuine Suzuki belt.
I thought the full Suzuki price was much more (£265).

You could be right Dave. Wemoto don't list the belt as OE, so it could be pattern.
I know when I had the belt changed on my W reg burger, the OEM belt cost about £120, and that was about 6 years ago. so you could be right.
That said, Suttons are showing Malossi belts at £102, and Suzuki OEM belts at £140.

Thanks for the replies. I see kits that include the rollers as well as belt filter and gasket. Should I replace the lot or just the belt? Bit of a shock to the finances at £230 though!

Dave, I think I remember paying £175 for a genuine Suzuki belt. but since then the price may have come down slightly. But that was 18 months ago.
