Hello all,
My name is Pete and I'm the owner of a Honda Swing which I bought new in April-13 after having a Vespa 300 for 2 years. I ride circa 5,500 miles per annum and ride in all weathers bar snow, the Honda has performed brilliantly and is now showing 9,100 - regularly returns 95mpg and rides really nicely. I have had a new pair of rear shocks (due to finish rather than failure) and a battery (refused to start once) under warranty but am generally very happy with it.
The Vespa covered 17,000 kms under my ownership and had fuel pump repaired under warranty, 2 speedo cable breakages (what a pig they were to change) and a holed exhaust which Piaggio wouldn't replace. While the vespa rode well, was very quick and still returned about 75mpg the range was only about 170 kms due to the tank size, plus the servicing was frequent (5,000 kms) for the engine size and very expensive and the storage was very small.
An older rider in my 50's I've been riding since 2004 and also run a 650 Bandit for touring and sunny weekends.
Pete
