Ryde 32l Top Box for my Kawasaki J300

Post by SOOTYGULL »

I recently bought a Ryde 32l Top Box for my Kawasaki J300.

I chose it because:

... It looks about the right size for my scooter - not too bulky

... It holds my full face helmet and waterproof jacket with a little bit of room to spare.

... It can be easily be removed from it's secure mounting plate

I am well pleased for the price of £33 delivered instead of the £200+ I had been quoted at some dealers !

Also as you can see from the photo the Universal Mounting Plate has so many holes it bolts easily to the pre-threaded bolt holes already in the J300 rear rack/passenger grab rail.

Once fitted, a nice touch is a plastic plate to cover the plate up.

That plate looks very similar to the one supplied with the Givi box I had on the PCX.

That's much neater than mine, but then I should think so for the extra £7 it cost...

Well, a Givi clone at a bargain price! Well done!
It does seem to follow the Givi system, with box, universal mounting plate, but does it have a specific rack to put the mounting plate on? Was that extra, or did you attach the mounting plate in some other fashion?

That mounting plate looks identical to the one that came with the Peugeot branded top box I`ve got.

Are they as good as Givi then? ive got a 29ltr givi on my cb500 at the minute, that came with the bike, but would like something bigger, prob around the 40=45ltr mark, but givi boxes that size are ridiculously expensive, whereas Amazon sell the ryde box for around 50 quid.

It did not come with a specific rack to put the mounting plate on.

The passenger grab rails on the J300 continue each side and join up behind the seat to form a substantial platform behind seat which has four threaded holes to accept bolts and two plain holes.

The picture of the universal plate showed it had so many holes so I took a gamble that some of them would line up with the holes in the J300s platform.

In fact two lined up perfectly and two in the universal plate needed to be filed out slightly.
