Engine gone

Need help!!!!
Need advice!!!!

Last Friday my engine blew on my piaggio xevo 125 2008

RAC and my garage both said my piston has blown as it damaged my spark plug and I have no compression.

In the last 2 years I have had such bad luck and have spent approx £2000 spread over 2 years on a bike worth about £1800

I've replace most of the main body parts like leg shield, front shield, side panels, serviced about 4 months ago with new drive belt, refurbished front and back brake calipers, new stator and rectifier, replaced water pump switches and everything related to the cooling system. That's just the stuff I can remember!

Don't really know what to do now, as I'm skint from the last repairs, can't afford another bike but need for getting to work ontime as I have child care duties in the morning then commute to work.

Has anyone got any advice other than gradually selling the parts on eBay as that is time consuming.

:( :( :( :( :(

Bad times... if I was in that position I'd strip the engine - if there's no damage to the bottom end you could get away with a rebore. If it turns out to be wrecked then you could look for a spare engine, or throw the bike on eBay as spares or repair.

had that on my B125 10 years ago... the tip of the spark plug snapped off and bounced around... cost £500 to fix.

sorry to hear lad, there are only two ways of looking at it , another engine is around £300 and they have done silly miles already, so i would say no to that.. with the help of someone (family of friend) you either get the mechanic to repair or you cut your losses and try to get a cheap winter hack for now and get some money back for the scoot you have on ebay excetra.
where abouts in london are you .. look in gumtree etc.. its time now to ask a few favours to get the dosh to either fix ( as you know what you have) or a cheap winter use scoot to use then save up
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Bad luck :(

I'd consider parting it out on eBay - you'll probably get quite a bit that way over time.
In the meantime I'd look around for a deal on something new - finance it if necessary if you need it for your job. £69.44 per month would see you on a new PCX125 - it may be cheaper in the short, medium and long term, much of that could be covered by parting out the old one.

Scooters don't last as long as houses - time to move on. You could fix it for maybe £250 and quite a bit of work - that much would get you to february on a new machine, by which time your old one would possible have broken down again.

No point in beating yourself into the ground.

I'd consider getting a new bike Sym are currently offering 0% finance on some of their range you can get a joymax 125i with just a £99 deposit over a couple of years.

I have the same issue with my xevo 250.

Trying to get an engine is a nightmare with the 250

Mine has been off the road about 6 months now.

A mechanic friend stripped it down in his own time but said it wasn't salvageable. Its still sitting in his garage SORN while we looked for an engine.

I thing the breaking it down and selling the parts is my next suggestion to him.

I was lucky to have a great Father-in-Law who leant me the money to get another bike.
As they say is Star Wars.....May the Forza be with you

Must be a damaged x7, x8, or its etc that has a engine that could be stripped out.
