Just taken delivery of my 09 Peugeot Satelis 500 having traded in my 250 Foresight and my Kawasaki cruiser. First impressions are very good, seems well made, very economical and a beast on the motorways. Anybody else got or had one of these?

Had 3 250 Executives, putting between 20 and 35k miles on each. In my opnion, the Sat was the best commuter scooter there is. Darn shame that Peugeot lost the plot and concentrated on the Metropolis rather than the Sat mk2. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 400 will be like. Aside from being too expensive, I have high hopes.
On the comparison between the 250 and 500, the smaller lump is obviously more economical (high 80s compared to 60s mpg). It also has a slightly larger boot due to the Sat 500's rear suspension. This is supposed to be a seriously good set-up.
Have you got the Exec version with ABS and ABUS? The Premium model can easily be spotted by having two front discs compared to the Exec's one.
Either way, get the remote boot lift if you can - this is a seriously nice extra to have.

Looks like a Satelis with a 400 engine....

€5,900?? Thats only £3700, which sounds a bargain. No ABS for some weird reason.

No, Peugeot have totally dropped the ball on ABS. Back in 2002 and even perhaps in 2007, it was pretty much their USP.
On price, the Sat300 in France is 5199euros (£4172) but here it is £4499. So I would assume that the Sat400 will be more like £5k. Which IMO is a lot for a 400 without ABS.
Translation of the link:
Peugeot Scooters unveils official prices of the new spearhead of the range GT Satelis 400i, 400i engine Metropolis. The maxiscooter that will land before the end of the month in the concessions at the Lion will be sold € 5,899. In her racy outfit RS, expect € 6199. Note that the Peugeot 400i Satelis 2014 will not be available with ABS. As a reminder, note that the Yamaha X-Max 400 ABS is displayed at € 6,499 (€ 6,299 for Momo Design declination without ABS), about the Kymco Xciting 400, its price starts at € 5,799 (€ 5,999 with the ABS).

But going back to the Satelis 500...
The late Kevin Ash liked it enough.

That was the mk1, which ran from 2006 to 2012, I think. The mk2 has only been available as a 125 until the 300 came along. But the 300 is a cheat: it is a mk1 dressed in mk2 panels and does not have the same tech. The mk2 400 should be something pretty special though.

Its the Premium with the two front discs, so no ABS. The one thing I'm having difficulty with is the seat; its very comfortable and a decent height but the vibration and the riding position make my personal undercarriage uncomfortable - every traffic light stop sees me trying to get my trousers to stop squeezing my nads.
