My local Yamaha dealer has just told me there is a new Tmax to be launched at Cologne and Milan... he advised holding off on the current ABS model until details of the new model are announced.
Jolly decent fellow. Anyone heard what Yamaha have up their sleeves? More cc's perhaps?? :/

Re: Ooh ooh!
Thats the first I've heard of it.
I guess that Yamaha might be thinking of a revamp for 2015, though the mk4 only came out in 2012 didn't it? Probably unveiled in 2011, so only 3 years. There again, the BMW came out since the mk4 was announced - I think - so Yamaha might want to ensure that the the TMax remains very competitive - and as their top seller, they would want it keep it at the forefront.
I wonder what they will do....Its not obvious which way they'd go. Everyone's been saying that they want more power, but Yamaha have so far firmly resisted any big moves in that direction. The mk1 and 2 were similar in engineering, whilst the mk3 was completely different, and the mk4 is basically the same frame with different bodywork and updated components. On that basis, the mk5 might be a bigger rework.
Or, maybe they'll split the brand a bit, and have a scooterish Tmax, and a new edgier bike/scoot hybrid thingie. I have no idea, but its fun speculating!!!!

Re: Ooh ooh!
What if its just another Techmax but for the 530?
Spoke to my local one today and he has been offered a deal on getting two 530's in so he's willing to pass the savings down to the buyers but he has to take the offer by end of the week, sadly only £700 off, way out of budget for me.

That's a distinct possibility! A superficial makeover before a really new model comes along...Funkycowie wrote:What if its just another Techmax but for the 530?
I did read somewhere that Yamaha have developed their own version of a Dual Clutch transmission, and I guess something like the Tmax is an obvious choice to install it in. I fear that they might be reluctant to give it more power as it'd break through the A2 license limit.

Re: Ooh ooh!
Before you all explode, the big Tmax announcement last year was brown paint. Er.. sorry, I mean Phoenix Bronze. And I don't think it made it over here.

Re: Ooh ooh!
I must admit that something along those lines is the most likely outcome - after Yamaha spent all that effort making the mk4, I doubt whether they'd go for another major redesign, yet.StephenC wrote:Before you all explode, the big Tmax announcement last year was brown paint. And when they did the Bronze Max, look what they put on it, to say to BMW "our bike isn't made in @##$%^$ CHINA!"
