Rebuild Help

Hey,

I've picked up a Peugeot BB frame and tank (I think late 50's early 60's) on ebay with the plan of rebuilding and was hoping that I would be able to get advice and guidance from some of you seasoned professionals.
I'm not looking to restore but rebuild with whatever parts are readily available and look good.

So here is my first question:

Engines - I want to put a 50cc 2 stroke on it. Can anyone suggest an engine that is reliable and parts easy to replace. Knowing that it's going to be near impossible to find one that fits I have no doubt I'll be fabricating mounts.
Also any suggestions on reading material about engines, as the gaping void in my brain about them needs to be filled.

Cheers

Wes

You may want to consider this suppler for the engine.

It's your decision. :)

If I was doing such a project my first stop would be a bike breaker in your area. There shuold be plenty of scooters there dumped by 16 to 17 yr olds for useful bits that you will require. Good luck and let us know how you get on, you may start a new trend. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

If you are fabricating new mounts to put a different engine in (does it have to be 50cc?) I would suggest using the Minarelli AM6 engine as they're still in use today, parts are cheap & plentiful plus it's probably the most reliable & well proven 50cc 2 stroke ever.
