I am getting my garage sorted out and want to do some thing with the floor. Its detached and away from the house and is prone to damp. Therefore I think that putting garage floor tiles or vinyl down may not be a good idea so perhaps I should just stick with a good paint. Anybody got any suggestions for a good paint I did it about 10 years ago with a Brewers one but it did not last that well. ?

Depends how damp it is, ive used an anti damp screed from marley, doesnt have to be a perfect job, then fitted a cord velour contract carpet, cheap enough, waterproof , oil and a few drops of petrol wont damage it either, and the bike stand doesnt damage it, vinyl would rip easy when using a centre stand, just make sure the door is slightly raised so damp doesnt creep in when it chuckes it down.

I'm just having a garage built and would like to have a painted floor to keep as clean as possible so I'll be interested to hear of a product that will give a good surface that will last and take a little abuse from bike stands.

I put down the old carpet from the kids bedroom...
foam rubber backed stuff - keep the garage feeling warmer and less damp...
and was easier than taking it to the tip...

painted floor unless with some aggregate is gonna get slippy... get a big carpet off-cut to put the scoot on or a large rubber car mat for under the stand...

clean the floor, chuck down a few Lts of that black tar type waterproof sealer and through some 20mm waterproof plywood on top, finish the plywood how ever you want.. don't forget to paint the tar stuff 100mm up the walls..job done no more damp inside for a bit any way

Assuming its concrete. Use a de coupling membrane such as the one I sell millions of metres of a year of. Stick it down with a cement based tile adhesive. Tile onto it just like you normally would. The air spaces under the membrane allow any dampness in the floor to "breathe". No dampness will come to the surface and you can use cheap porcelain tiles from Wicks or B&Q to give a very durable surface. Oh don't seal the edges of the floor where it meets the wall, this lets the moisture escape.
Depending on how much you need I am sure I would have some "samples" going spare.

New concrete takes a very long time to dry out, i would leave it as is for a while say 6months...then the floor is your ouster is that right
normal concrete sealer first then paint whatever colour takes your fancy, nice pale blue then you can see whatever you dropped and any oil spills/leaks

the floor was laid in the 30,s. My friend suggested rubber tiles but I think blue or grey floor paint. The only thing is they all seem to want 5 days to dry.
