cracking scoot in fact my x8 400 i bought new in 2007 and still have and in that time ive owned and got rid of a k7400 burgman / x10 350 and currently own a xmax 400 but i still go to the x8 on a long ride i prefer the riding position .. mechanically fairly bullet proof .. but if you are of average height or above you will need to change the screen the original is awful . storage wise not as good as the others but imho opinion its much more fun than the burgers and it doesnt object to being thrown around it handles very well

A little more grunt than the burgman though a little slower off the line, top speed - indicated 100mph official 92.5mph I think. 6000 mile service intervals so cheap to run. I'm on just over 30,000 miles of every day commuting in all weather and still going strong, the engine is solid.
It has a bit less storage than the burgman - only one small cubby hole in the front but has a fag lighter power socket so well positioned for sat nav charging. Battery is under the seat so fantastic for wiring things up like heated clothing.
The only thing to watch out for is the immobiliser aerial, cheap shit part that seems to fail every couple of years (about 15 quid to replace if you diy). Also on my 3rd indicator switch but a 4 quid part and quick n easy to fit.
I've got the version with a seat remote and it's useful but the boot lid isn't so much if you have a top box. Remote opens seat and boot lid (one button for each).
Boot lid is handy, with it open you can carry a shovel!
Also proper stainless exhaust, you won't ever need to change it.
