Been getting a few good long rides in during this spell of summer weather and it's done wonders for my mpg. Recently it's been holding steady at around 68 - 70, but with the warm weather it's jumped to 75 -76!

longer rides tend to get better mpg than a to b riding, enjoy the great weather not sure what the weather holds for the weekend

Try using super unleaded instead of the standard stuff too. In willing to bet that once you have used a couple of tanks that you will get maybe another 10% improvement.

Steve does it really make a difference, have only been putting standard in the 600

Yes super unleaded does in many cases improve performance and mpg and its normal have a smoother feel to the motor with use . 99% of machines however are designed to run on standard due to that its available in most areas .

I put Shell V-Power Nitro diesel in my car quite often. I am convinced I get a slight improvement in MPG but the car definitely runs smoother and feels more responsive to the throttle, plus Honest John swears by the stuff. I've never tried the posh stuff in the Maj though, I'll give it a try.

Try it and see. The price difference isn't that much nowadays, although it can vary widely from station to station.

Where I go super costs an extra 7p a litre. On a refill of 10 litres that means just 70p extra on a £13 tank.

I think the difference you could see is not due to the higher octane but the superior overall formulation that super usually has against standard.

Just give it a go for two tanks.

I use Shell Nitro+ but also changed to Brisk LGS plugs, my mpg went from 51-52 to 58-59 mpg, the ride out is planned around getting food in me and Nitro+ in my engine

If I have ever had to go back to regular the engine feels sluggish in comparison and I can't wait to get Nitro+ back in.

you need to ask funky on this one, ooops he has already posted ... although i will try to explain .. standard fuel is 95 ron then super unleaded is 97 ron both have added standard fuel system cleaners in them..... now if you want to go down the route of super loopy juice which funky tries to adhere to (i will be on my fuel additive is used up in 6 moths) then if you want the best 99 ron fuel with extra added system cleaners there are only two national fuel stations i know of which do the 99 ron..
Shell v+ nitro unleaded and Tesco Momentum 99 so if you intend to do it then to get the best ... then these are the two fuel stations to use or you wont feel the benefit
