The Burgman 650 is an absolute doddle to ride but I would take the test on a geared bike so you have a unrestricted licence for the future.

I would agree take your test on a geared bike, then you have all your options open

I personally think that if someone has the choice and ability, they should train for a manual licence - car and motorcycle. There's an component of comprehension that is missing on the Auto licence test - clutch and gears!

Auto's are far more relaxing easier to drive. I appreciate auto gearboxes more because I know what a chore it can be using a clutch and gears in stop & start traffic!

Quite interesting that DVLA are now removing the auto restriction on bus and lorry licences if you already have a manual car licence.
So now you can sit a test in an auto bus or lorry and get a full manual licence.

So why discriminate against motorcycles?

I don't think that sounds very safe

I think it sounds quite sensible.
