Hi each,
Recently I noticed a post that mentioned 'checked my bike over for the ride tomorrow' or some such words. It got me thinking about what people do or don't check before going out on their scoots. I'm thinking reasonably long trips (say 100 miles or more) not just going to the shops.
I'll start…
Before a longish ride I normally:-
Check the tyres for bits of flint, nails etc that might be stuck in the tread and dig them out if I find any.
Check the oil.
Check the tyre pressures if I haven't done it for a few days.
Make sure my waterproofs are in the bike that I'll be taking.
If it's likely to involve riding after dark I check the lights.
That's about it really.
So, what do other people check?
Paul

Re: Pre-ride inspection
There's a few more checks that should be done on a daily basis, like brakes, tightness of components etc. Not that I do any of them that regularly.Cookie wrote: I'll start…

Re: Pre-ride inspection
You have most of it but you should also consider;
Static & rolling brake test, front and rear.
Brake light check for both front & rear switches (either lever or pedal, delete as appropriate...)
Fuel level - Gauge or visual.
Attitude - Never ride Angry.
A good way to remember nearly everything is the acronym POWER.
Petrol
Oil
Water
Electrics
Rubber
Some say POWDER but I can't remember what D stood for. :¬(

Re: Pre-ride inspection
Perhaps the 'D' stands for 'Drawers', ie make sure you're wearing clean ones just in case

Re: Pre-ride inspection
I never check anything before riding.
Just get on and go.
If anything I do checks after riding if I have noticed something unusual during the ride.
