i was sent to York when i was a manager at sainsbury`s for the opening of the (new store) then some 30 years ago, stayed for two years a lovely place, i used to tootle in to work on an old MZ brings back memories 

I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Used to be a TdF fan but have mixed feelings about it now due to all the drug scandals.

The best thing about the Tour is that they have resurfaced the roads for it.
There is a beautiful stretch (A6024) between Holmfirth and Woodhead Pass that had massive holes and ruts in it but is now silky smooth.

My brother in law lives in Ilkley, the roads there will be closed for twelve hours so there is a need for careful planning and detailed knowledge of the minor roads/rat runs !

Hi Meldrew from your previous posts,i thought you were anti cyclists.I am going to watch the 5 mile stage up Cragg Vale,Hebden Bridge,i organised a time trial event for many years on Cragg road.Roads have never looked so good round the Dales.

How long is this Bike fest? I will keep well away from Yorkshire till it finishes.
