Went to Lidl today, helmets just didn't fit but I picked up a pair of the gloves.

I brought the socket set handy size to keep on the scooter

After much soul searching and deliberation I bought a flip up lid from Lidl, cost only £39.99. First impressions are: It is comfy for me, tight enough but not wobbling around. The quality seems fine, comparing with my HJC I can't see any significant differences. The blub supplied assures me it has passed all the relevant Euro ece 22.05 tests and is homologated for sale in E.U.
The lid comes with additional side cheeks which pad it out more to enable a tighter fit if needed, a spare slightly tinted visor, which is quick release, an additional neck curtain for winter use and some acoustic pads which snuggle up to your ears and are supposed to cut out noise. It also has an integrated sun visor. I rode into work with it today and first impressions are thus: Visibility seems fine, the visor is clear and does not distort. Despite claiming to have a anti-mist coating the visor did steam up a bit, but I was just trundling to work and 40 mph is the max I get up to commuting, I would imagine a higher speed would push more air through the front chin vent to keep the screen clear, that seems to be the theory. The helmet seems noisier than my HJC jet helmet but I have not fixed the acoustic pads in, I doubt I will as I like the fact that my ears aren't squashed and I generally put earplugs in on longer jaunts. The helmet looks nice as it has a matt black finish, there are no obvious signs of shoddy workmanship evident, the chin strap is one of those sliding clip jobbies which I like. All in all it seems to be a great buy for £40, time will tell of any weaknesses but Lidl give a 3 year warranty so if 'owt drops off or stops working then they will get it back!

good review smeghead.. over winter i have used an OXFORD HUFF HELMET BREATH DEFLECTOR it fits by vecro to inside helmet and has chin support and nose pinch, stays in the helmet when taking off/on and protects the nose /cheek areas when visor up, when visor down i get no fogging and just wear a neck tube for warmth, i can not rate this product more highly, and a great addition to a helmet

I used a similar thing called a foggy mask, it worked a treat.

yer the foggy is lighter material, the oxford tends to stay in its shape and vented chin holding area works well

I had a flip up helmet from Lidl, it was fine and i had no complaints except i did get a lot of wind noise. Used it a couple of years. Then bought a Caberg flip up, noticed the differance straight away, hardly any wind noise and, for me, a more comfortable fit. I do find the base, and windproof layer system especially good. The gloves are not very good and i wish i had not bought them.

I tried out my gloves a couple of days ago they will be fine for the summer.....

Yeah move from Aberdeen to Barcelona. Then your Lidl gloves will be fine. J and S in Aberdeen still have Hein Gericke stock so you might be lucky
